Rust on my door

Just PM me on the forum... I don't really use my My space for anything but hosting pics for the forum now. As for the doors, I find them often enough that I can be reasonably sure that I will be able to get one for you. It may not be right away though, so the sooner I know I have a definite buyer, the sooner I start the search. Also, to me a good door has no rust along the pinch weld, and that is the hardest thing to find. If you don't mind a little rust there it makes things easier. I just don't like spending money on parts like this only to have them rust out again in a few years, unless it's a rare car and I have no choice. For example: I just found a 1979 AMC Spirit door with rust and didn't care. It's a rare ( but worthless) car and the door is one year only.

Damn. I wish my pass. door looked that good.

Yes, that's the sad state my GP is currently in. Brings a tear to my eye. Soon enough, all will be fixed.
Both the outer door skin, and a good part of the inner door are missing. I am gonna go the 'not as professional' route, and use panel bond. I'm not doing a lap joint though. I'm cutting off all the rusty metal. Then priming and painting all exposed edges. Then I'm going to glue a thin strip of sheet metal (primed and painted) on the inside of the door skin, with an inch or so sticking out, to make kind of a shelf to glue the new lower door skin onto. Fill in the seam with some filler, and done. I'm not too concerned with how the inner part of the door looks, so I may just use some fiberglass mat and slather it with epoxy.

WTF. pic won't show up! It'll be in my album.

Old post, I know, but why thwe hell wont any of my pics in any of my posts show up?! Someone let me know!

BTW, I ended up finding a door for $150 about an hour from my house. Absolutely rust-free, which is very strange for a New England car.
