So yeah, as I told in my Cutlass topic, I bought an S10. I dont really know what to do with it, it was nearby and I think I got it cheap (we dont have that many of these S10's) Small cab and short bed. It has a 2.5 liter Iron Duke and a 5 speed manual transmission. The powertrain seems okay(ish), but damn that rear frame is rotten away. I'm glad that the passenger side is nearly okay, 'cause theres not much left in the driver side. So I can measure from the passenger side!

It's not pretty, I admit it. But I have always loved these little S10's. Had to have one. I'm going for the rust issue first, stay tuned!

Love those square body S-10. Light and easy to hop up with at SBC and any trans you can get your hands on. Thing weight in at 2800 to 3000 lbs with a SBC. Rear gear should be a 3.75 or 4.11 so it will scoot with any power. Even a good SBC will put it in the high to mid 12s.

Those are some fun little trucks to own. My cousin used to have one with a swapped 305tpi/700r4 out of a firebird, was a blast to drive!
My brother bought this one in the pic below last year from a friend....has the same 2.5 iron duke and 5 speed. Not fast, but he lowered it, tinted it, and bought my centerlines this spring for a heluva deal to help fund my new cutlass wheels.
Hope you get the rust squared away and have some fun with it!

The body is okay, some rust issues here and there, underneath of the cab looks great. But the rear frame rails, well, they're pretty much gone.

If someone has a photo of a stock rear frame, send it here please, it would help alot.

Would I be able to fit a 91-94 grille to this? The all chrome grille looks cool to me :D

Does an S10 Blazer have anything in common when it comes to frame? If I could get my hands on a Blazer frame, would I be able to use peaces of it to repair this?

I started an build thread ( NEW S-10, SONOMA BUILD) which is on page 2 but there wasn't much interest. Any way there is a couple of pic's of the frame (2002) if it helps. Also S&W sells a back half for the S-10. Good luck with the project.

The most that you are probably going to be able to get as similar would be the front of the frame and possibly right at the very tips where the bumper mounts attach. That is unless you wanted some metal to cut scraps from and fabricate patches...
S10 blazer frame has the rear spring mounts outside instead of inside because the frame isn't as wide all the way back. On the blazer the gas tank is mounted where the spare tire on the pickup goes, and the frame rails narrow together and aren't as wide as the pickup is.
