Felpro use to include 4 alignment guides that screwed in the block, then you could put the gasket and pan up and they would hold in all in align. That left both hands free to start bolts.
You don't have a choice on the rear main. It's either a 2 piece or a 1 piece. Not exactly sure when they made the switch, but a 1 piece goes in a plate that bolts to back of the block.
Ok, let me undo my brain fart. I know after forgetting that the oil pan set doesn't include rear main seals, I shouldn't of asked if it did include any part of the rear main seal. My mind is running on empty tonight, my apologies.

I swear by the 1 piece pan gaskets. Use them on big and small blocks. I have had better luck with the Fel-Pro compared to some of the others on the market. I also dab some RTV in the corners and on big blocks some where the oil pan meets the timing cover.
Most 'normal' oil pan bolts are not long enough to get the gasket squished into place. Once you pull it down, the normal ones work just fine.
My FelPro gasket came with four blue plastic plugs that thread into the block and have notch that catches the pan. This is an aid when installing the pan from below, and as ldr said, they make the job easy by providing that third hand to hold the pan up for you. (Keep them in a baggie in the bottom of the toolbox for later.) 😉

+1 I just used the fel pro 1 piece gasket on my 305, it came with the 4 corner plugs but sadly my pan had studs on the 4 corners so I didn't get a chance to try them out. I installed with the engine hoisted a bit out of the car and the install was still smooth without the plastic plugs.
