What's the factory rocker arm stud size and length on a 86 chevy 305

Should be 7/16ths from the factory....google is your friend :wink:

It's actually a 3/8" fine thread. If you're replacing the stud I believe the bottom part that will screw into the head is 7/16" coarse thread.

The studs on those heads do not screw in, they are pressed in studs. The thread size is 7/16ths fine thread. A few spacers, or a stack of washers and a nut of the correct thread will remove the studs, if they are loose you can drill and pin them, or thread the hole and use a screw in stud. You will have to machine off some of the stud boss or the stud will not screw in deep enough to allow you to get the correct lifter preload.
