Just installed a set of AFR 227's on a 383, yes the studs protrude into the intake runners. They have to be sealed with thread sealer. Take off all yer rockers remove the studs and seal em up with some thread sealer. Line up the gideplates and install the rockers, ya wont have a problem after that.

That seems like it would have detrimental to the air flow of the intake runner :|

Any updates??? Im really wondering whats going on with that engine to use THAT much oil

yeah i found the problem i gues, im gonna ad pics within the next hour,
it was the pvc system, i unplugged the hose and after 2 minutes of idling the 7th spark plug joined, i think the last plug is to far gone

I notice no baffles in the valve covers. Do you use a PCV valve? Are there any type of breather(s) on the valve covers? You could be building up excessive pressure in the crankcase. This could be the result of excessive blow by.
Just a thought to consider.

the excessive blow by could be caused by the fact the engine is new and the rings arent properly seated yet. i just connected the hose from the pcv breather (an ordinary mr gasket chrome breather) to the carb vacuum. the breather holes are drilled (by me) on the wrong spot (above the rocker)
