I would first take the old 2004r transmission brakets and drill through the spotwelds with a spotweld drill bit. Then take a pry bar and tap it slowly so the pry bar wedges in between the floor and the braket, it should then pop off. If you have 700r4 trans brakets bolt the crossmember to the brakets and put it where its supposed to be. Then take a sharpe or zip blade and go around each braket so you know they go. Unbolt crossmember from brakets and simply weld them back on 😀

well, the original 260 and 2004r are long gone, i replaced them with a built olds 350 engine and turbo 350 trans... and sold both of those, so i have nothing from them left except for the cross member. was just wondering if there was a cross member that would bolt right up.

thanks for the idea though..

a cross member that fits for a 700r4

so... was there a g body that came stock with a 700r4? or are you saying that a cross member from say... an 88 silverado will bolt up in my olds?

No and no. You could get an aftermarket crossmember or you could get one for a th350 and modify it slightly.

Alright the thing I don't understand is when I pulled my 3.8 out of my 84 a couple weeks ago the starter is on the passanger side. On my 350 it's on the passanger side also. DId they change theses v6s around alot of something?
