New here with a cutlass

What do I need to know about swapping out the 307 for something more powerful? Do I need to keep it olds or switch to a chevy block? The prior owner of my cutlass replaced the original trans with a 350.

Small block Olds 350/403 is easiest. Anything other than the worlds most common motor the sbc would be more interesting. Although it has its attributes. I did a 500 Caddy into mine. Dwight who has a site on car domain just search 455 Olds Cutlass and Bob at WWW.robertpowersmotorsports.con both did great swaps with pics & info.

I say go against the grain.Throw in a kickass sbc stroker and a th-350 or better yet a O/D transmission and call it a day!!! But if your looking for a simplicity, then an olds 455 is the way to go 8)
