I just recently picked up a can of SEM Trim Black. What's the difference between the Euro trim black and the regular trim black? Is it a matter of gloss levels?

That is bad news indeed. PPG is a conglomerate that has it's hands into many products. That sucks!!

In my opinion the Euro satin looks closer to the Hot Rod black. The Ultra satin to me is a much deeper black if that makes sense. I needed a small amount to spray the hood latch and bracket on the 81. I primed them with SEM self etching primer and I sprayed the latch first but I didnt think I had enough to spray the bracket too so I went to buy another can. As soon as I sprayed the Ultra I could see the difference. I let it tack and used the last drop of Euro for a final coat. Lucked out I guess. LOL

Wellston, OK
Im sure Color Coat will still be made but I hope PPG doesnt change the system.
Hahahahahaha

PPG ruins everything they buy, because they're not content ruining their own products.

They bought out Duramix, completely changed the product composition, nowhere near what it was pre-aquisition

They used to have good abrasives, new cubitron is a joke

i agree, the o.e euro was the closest thing to the HR black,i was digging it but in ppg's defense, sem changed the trim black line three times in under five years prior to the company changing hands.the orginal, the jet and now the ultra.gloss, satin and now matte.nothing stays the same.I'll still use the line, whatever it's looking like..

Actually, I've bought Krylon satin black for like $4 or $5 and it looks damn identical to the euro jet satin. I don't have any on hand to snap a pic of the can, I'll try to remember next time at the store to grab some.

I've used this stuff a lot in the past and for blacking out the mesh on grilles and other bright trim like headlight and taillight bezels for turbo Buicks and it looks about correct to me at least.

I have been using this for years blacking out chrome trim, IMO it holds up better and is a little blacker than the trim blacks out there.

Here y'all go. I've used this quite a bit along with the euro jet satin and haven't been able to tell the color difference. It sprays like typical Krylon though so ya gotta be easy on it.
