I recently swapped the heads on my 350 to the heads in the picture. As far as i know they came out of a 96-98 Silverado. At first i thought the only difference was that they required center bolt valve covers. When i bolted the intake up i noticed that the middle pair of bolts were at a different angle than the outer pairs. i can not get the intake to seat properly. Any information on what to do will be apreciated. The intake that wont work is an edelbrock prformer.

Do you have an intake to work with them heads? 87 and newer heads require a different intake because the bolt patterns are different.

Vortec heads only have 8 intake bolts -- 2 in each corner. If you have 12 intake bolts they are not Vortec heads. You need to source an '86-up intake with the canted center intake bolts.

Like has already been stated 96+ are vortec heads, which you don't have. The 86-95 heads are known as swirl ports and seem the same as lder heads except for the center 4 bolts like you found out.

and again...you need the vortec intake for those heads. it's a specific intake style, as opposed to the previous generic one.

Vortec intake is different than the standard "center bolt valve cover" heads  You can make a standard intake work with newer style heads (not with Vortec heads though) You just have to massage the center holes a little bit and it'll bolt right up

What's your casting numbers from those heads :?: Hopefully you didn't get charged for Vortec heads and just received a standard swirl-port head :|

He doesn't have vortec heads, at least not going by what is in the picture. If they were vortecs the first bolt that you see would be straight up and down not angled.
