I know someone has done it. I have the oem 85 9" booster now, my BBOlds valve covers barely squeeze in now. I'm switching to the cast aluminum Olds covers and want a little more room. What size, brand, part #.... whatever info have you gone with?

Perhaps manual brakes? Then there's no booster in the way at all. I think most swap from a 12" single diaphragm to a 9" double for an upgrade. You may need to change the master cylinder if you go smaller than the 9" jobber you've already got. I guess you can try the aftermarket offerings, but I know nothing about them.

There is an alternative:

But a hydroboost system is difficult to piece together, on top of needing a different steering pump reservoir, and it’ll require a large bore MC.

Tbh, I’d go with a well calibrated manual brake setup.

If you have the double diaphragm booster, then that is small as it gets with a factory booster.

Be careful of buying low budget off shore 7" boosters. I have not had good luck with those little dinky ones on a heavy vehicle.

I have a BBC with the 9" dual and have never had a problem getting my tall valve covers off with a stud girdle so I am surprised the BBO would have issues.

It is the angle of the oldsmobile blocks that makes it an issue

I gave up on this post quite some time ago. I picked up a booster but have yet to install it yet due to timing and space.
Right on. Out of curiosity, what booster did you select?
