maybe i should do a before, use restore and then an after compression test.

You should really do a leak down test. You can not see what is exactly wrong with the engine with a compression test. Who knows, you may just need a head rebuild. You would not be able to tell with a compression test.

if you do a compression test and then put some oil into the cylinder if the compression raises then the valves are leaking..

yeah, i have heard that and forgot all about that trick. thanks gp!!

eek!! the only thing im afraid of is that if it is the same thing, i dont have that killer motor to throw in, lol.

i've been thinking since it smokes worse out of one breather than the other, maybe it has to do with the heads. but of course it could always be rings AND the one head.

If you add a quart of transmission fluid to the oil and run the car doe about 15 minutes after it hits operating temp that'll clean off the varnish build up and then change your oil. You can also drop some transmission fluid down your car to clean out the top of the engine. If you do that make sure you not in an area that's going to bother people cause it'll cause quite a bit of white smoke. It's cheaper than the additives and it does basically the same thing...

I thought it meant the rings are leaking.

opps....your right I had it backwards.... 😳

thanks for pointing that out...

disclaimer....if anyone rebuilt their heads based on my erroneous post I am not responsible for my actions... 8)

🙁 🙁 🙁 🙁 🙁 🙁 🙁 🙁 🙁 🙁 🙁

okay, no need for a leak down test.
i have smoke coming from the dipstick tube.
i guess a rebuild, hopefully i don't need to go 30 over.
not that i wouldn't like the extra cid,
just not the checkbook to do it right now.
i guess it'll feel good to get the engine out and re-do it.
