your olds motor might like the 3.42 a little better from what ive heard alot of guys say. i personally kept the 3.42 in mine with the muncie 4 speed. now having the overdrive should make the 3.73 bearable on the street. whats your intended use of the car?

You know when I started all this it was just going to be a piddle around car with a little power. Now since I met Brian at Gbody I have turned into performance and strip/street in mind. Like I keep telling him, I am an addict and he is the drug dealer!!! So I guess this is the reason i am saying the hell with it give me a 200r4 and a 8.5 so I can grow into it, not grow out of it. I am running a BUICK 350 in this car so I know its a torque monster, if that makes any difference in your suggestion. Comp cams says with my 268 setup that it likes headers and 3:42,.....so not sure. I guess I am looking for all the benefits of each. Like I say I can choose which one I want, what a great dilema to have!!

Today I picked up my first 8.5, this one being a 3:42 posi from an 87 Grand National. I will be buying another 8.5 Friday from an 87 442 3:73 posi with a drive shaft so I will need to determine which gear will be better for me.

Some say with a 2500 stall it will be better than the 3:42. WHat is everyone's thoughts? I guess I have a pretty great decision to make over the next week

I will be putting a 200r4 from Extreme Automatics stage 1 as well.

What r u gunna do with the extra rear? I have 2 sets of aluminum drums if u want 2 buy a set....

Not sure what I am going to do with it. $600.00 and a drive shaft, I cant go wrong. Even if it sits in the garage and put money into it to make an even more bad *ss rear end.

I may contact you about the alum drums. what kind of shape are they in and if you want to pm an offer I may take them as well. I am at least going to do the s-10 upgrade

cool what you payed for it i found on Craigslist in CT alot of GN rears for sale from $850 to $1100

I bet if you went to them with 750 cash in hand they would take it. If I could get ahold of 5 at a time I could turn them around pretty quick.

i've been looking for an 8.5 with 3:42's for awhile, and i cant find one, some guy was trying to sell me a bent rear end out of a GN for 750, so i turned it down, if anyone has one let me know!
