Re: Some advice from the other LT1 guys please? NEW UPDATED

Since I hate threads with no closure, I'll just let you guys know the car sold without ever figuring it out. The buyer has my dad's contact info and said he would let him know what the noise was when he fixes it. It's a father/son project now and they drove it 4 hours from my house to theirs. If we actually do hear from him I'll post the final results. Otherwise, consider the matter concluded but not solved.

Re: Some advice from the other LT1 guys please? MAY NEVER KN

My dad said he got the call today. Turns out the guys went back over everything I had done thinking it was a top-end issue too. Still no luck. They also found that the noise would go away while power braking the car. Apparently that was the big clue. Their neighbor, an old farmer, said it was rod bearing. They dropped the K-member to get the pan off and pulled all the caps. Both #1 and #6 were damaged from something going through them. All the others looked fine. They said the found pieces of GLASS in the pan. WTF? The crank was fine so they polished it and rolled new bearings in. Problem solved. I've heard several rod knocks in my life and NEVER would have thought that was the problem. No one else that heard it (except for the farmer) thought so either.

MYSTERY SOLVED. Thanks for the suggestions guys.
