where do i even begin to start on a box?

heres the specs:
Recommended Enclosure Specifications
Recommended Enclosure Type Ported / Vented
Sealed
Minimum Sealed Box Volume 0.3 cubic feet
Maximum Sealed Box Volume 1.0 cubic feet
Minimum Ported Box Volume 1.5 cubic feet
Maximum Ported Box Volume 1.5 cubic feet
Top-Mount Depth 5-21/32"
Cutout Diameter 9-3/32"
Shallow Mount Installation No

Here are my exact dimensions, it was a slanted box btw. It is a ported box, coming from other users a sealed box in a G trunk just doesn't sound good.

Length: 20"

Depth 1 (Top of box): 9-1/2"

Depth 2 (Bottom of box): 12"

Height: 12-1/2".

Also, I think this put me around 1.13 cubic feet if I remember right. Judging on your specs you will have to add some polyfill.

it seems the whole ported, sealed debate changes with each person you talk to. i prefer sealed boxes as they are tighter and less boomy

I agree. I had two 10" subs in a bandpass box that was okay. But the 10" Kenwood in my home made sealed box sounds so much better.

As far as building the box, just figure out what space you have to work with and then alter the box size for the volume you need and what will fit.

I have my single 10" sub mounted on the shelf in the trunk behind the amp board with the speaker itself aiming at the back seat. With that plus my (2) 1" tweeters, (2) 4" mid-bass, (2) 6" woofers and (2) 5.25" coaxials inside the car it can be EXTREMELY loud but sounds clear as a bell.

I really like how tonysss setup his box as seen here

That does look nice and well done.

I had started this box a long time ago:

Looked okay but I decided I wanted to hide the sub so I came up with this:

I mounted the box behind this board. There is a separate removable board that goes in front of the amps that hides everything except for the glowing JBL logos in the center of the amps.

what concerns me is how i can do the compound cuts for the angled section of the box and backing board. the cut that will make the box like _\ and sit flat on the other piece of the material. i dont have a table saw. i only have a jig saw, skill saw and a sawzall.

i was looking at prefab boxes and this one looks close to making it but not totally sure

i just want this thing to come out right and have no experience in doing this stuff

if you take your design to home depot or lowes and buy the high density board there they''ll do the first cut free and charge you like a buck for each cut after that.

really i did not know that. its basically 1 cut that would need the be made like that. i should be able to make the backer board to hang the amp on the back wall of the box cant i? instead of basically making a rack and then attatching the box to it like tonyss did correct?

I didn't angle my box at all. Not in the second version anyway.

But as said, most of the major box stores will make the cuts for you. First is free and after that it's something like $.50 per cut.

But you also don't need a table saw to make these boxes. I have one now and yes, it does make things easier and in the end, you get a better quality fitting box but I built them for years just using an old circular saw and a straight edge. It just takes more time setting things up to be square.
