Hi does any one know what size speakers that are in the dash board?want to replace but haven't had time to mess with them yet

Since we are on the subject, what are the best 3.5 replacement speakers out there. I want to replace mine with the same size but I was wondering which ones have the best fit and sound quality?

I have tried several brands including Pioneer, Kicker, and some cheap-o's. I had the best luck with Infinity Kappa series. But once those finally blew, I took the plunge and put in custom kick panels and a Boston Pro-Series component set. I will never have anything else in it.

How long did it take for your kappas to blow? I thought they were the best out there. I was about to buy some for my car... Just kind of hesitant now...

Infinity has among the best sound out there but are a tad more delicate than some. Generally the softer, more subtle speakers will blow long before heavy, over-built speakers like Kicker.
Another thing to help ANY speaker is to make sure they are crossed over properly. My 3.5" Kappa's only had passive bass blockers on them and were run off the head-unit. The entire rest of my system is run off a 24db digital crossover and amps.

One last thing, many of the two way 3.5" speakers have the tweeters extended up above the speakers and they either require some cutting of the plastic cover, or some type of spacer to drop the whole speaker further down in the cut out. One thing I have done on several of mine (including my current setup) is to use the 3.5" placement for tweeters them mount the mids in the doors or kick panels. If I put a system in my '83 Hurst Olds, I want to use my Infinity ribbon tweeters in that location. Those sound SOOOO sweet, but I haven't really had a good place to use them so they are 10 + years old, but have only a few hours use on them.

I have 4 6.5 kappa components for the last 3 years powered by an amp and they are still going strong..
