On my 86' Regal with a 200R4 trans does anyone know what the length of the speedo cable is from the trans up to where it mounts here?
Just needed the length on the lower one, when I went to undo it from the trans the end spun on the casing instead of unscrewing but it is still intact and I screwed the adapter cable for the trans lockup into but wanted to have a new one on hand in case there is an issue. What are you trying to do with it? These were originally 2 piece cables, an upper and lower section.
When I first looked at it I thought both ends were female but I just looked it again and the upper end of the lower cable is actually a male that would explain why the replacement cables listed seemed too long but obviously they go all the way to the back of the speedometer.I think the issue you will find is that unless some aftermarket company makes a lower section, you may be relegated to buying a new cable.
I thought that as well, but they last used a fender mounted transducer (2 separate cables) in 1983. The 2-piece cable was used from 84 through 1987.By-product of the rising popularity of Cruise control, perhaps?
