Ok looked at old posts from 2012 but maybe things have changed. I have an 83 hurst with the speedo gear adapter in line. I need the short 11”+_ cable the runs from the gear adapter to the trans. Is anyone making these??

The only thing you may be able to do is contact a speedo shop and find out if they can make one the size and ends that you need. Otherwise you’ll need to scare up some ACDelco ones in the secondary market.

What are the ends?
I'll assume the transmission is standard. What's the other end? same fitting ?

Search an ATP Y-906

I was thinking 84 H/O which does not use an adapter, and I wasn't able to cross reference the short GM cable to anything aftermarket.

ATP Y-906 might work as the threaded head appears like it screws into the female thread side of the adapter, but it does not list it interchanging with CC919, aka GM p/n 25033556. Which is listed as fitting 82-87 G w/gear adapter.

CC919 is hanging off the end of the NOS GM speedo cable setup I'll be using for my 85 442 shown here. It has electronic cruise control so it doesn't use the split upper/lower cable thing the 83-earlier transducer style cruise uses. According to GM parts information, it's 10.8" long.

Factory setup for 85 442 below. I'm still thinking the original cable is a tad longer than 10.8". But I haven't measured it for sure. Note, no actual ratio adapter used, but some cars did use them, just not 84-87 VIN 9. 83 H/Os may have, but I'm not as fluent with the speedo cable setup in an 83 H/O.

That is my set up exactly minus the gear adapter which is just threaded in between the two. I’m sure it was a quick fix due to tire size and in later years changed the trans gear. Unfortunately I’m a stick freak so I want to replace verse change the trans gear. Which model number is the 11” cable? Cc919?

CC919 is the ACDelco number, but the same as GM p/n 25033556. Both numbers are stamped on the cable wrapper. Problem is, they're scarce as hen's teeth. I lucked up and found one listed on ebay as a Monte Carlo piece. Which it is listed to fit many applications. Later applications without the gear adapter got CC1120, a single piece cable, but this was only for 84-up 200-4R.

The ATP Y-906 that ELCAM mentioned looks like it might hold some promise but I'm wary about the dimensions. I didn't even know ATP had their own website with a cross-reference lookup until 5 minutes ago. The ATP website shows it as a replacement for GM p/n 94849944, which is a listing fitting 86-88 Geo Prizm and 86-88 Chevy Nova, both imported. It shows the fittings as 20-1.50 male and 20-1.50 female threads, thus a metric fitting.

Interestingly, they do show a 20" cable as a CC919/25033556 replacement under p/n ATP Y-808. The fittings are advertised as SAE 7/8-18 female and 7/8-18 male. Not sure if it would be too long or not.

Question: I've never taken any of these small cables apart, but is there any way to repair it? Such as replacing the cable inside the sheath? Not sure how it's engaged on the threaded end.

I know it doesn't seem like it initially, but all these speedo cables can get confusing rather quickly. The replacements, even the GM ones, can often have different lengths than the original factory cables. I think the main thing that aftermarket does is make them all a tad longer so they should fit a wider range of applications, not just one or a handful like GM used to do. Which sucks when you're trying to restore your car to bone stock.

And in case you were wondering about your other cables-

CC917/25032383 (65.25") shows as the Delco/GM part number for the lower cable for 83 H/O w/cruise control w/adapter, from the adapter to the transducer. ATP website shows ATP Y-803, but theirs is 83" long. Both 7/8-18 fitting and 5/8-18 fittings (transducer end).

CC1102/25032595 (41.3") is your upper cable from the transducer to speedometer. ATP website shows ATP Y-814, but 61" long. Interestingly, it shows a 7/8-18 threaded end for the transducer.

WHOA!!! Im impressed with your knowledge and speed of research, and thankful for the help. I'm afraid the 20" is to long and would be to awkward to loop. looks like strands chaffed on the walls of the jacket, probably due to the bends, broke and got twisted up on the cable causing it to break. I tried to pull the cable out but all I can grab is a couple strands and they are not really coming out. I see a company in Colorado that makes custom cables, Im going to poke around a little with the numbers you gave me but think that Ill end up having to buy custom made.

I called speedometers usa. $51.00. John seemed to know EXACTLY what I need. All I had to do is measure it. 10.75" end of threaded fitting to the shoulder flange of the other end. If all goes well....I HOPE, I will post the info
