Beater buys time to think clearly and act accordingly instead of immediately reacting with less than ideal options. He already has a day job to get to. Blasting is on the horizon. It'll happen.
Sometimes we need to step back and slow down to move ahead faster. And sometimes when we're knee deep in a shitty situation, we're too close to it to make a clear plan. Hence, my suggestion to get a beater (buy or borrow) and formulate a plan. Hell, might even make a couple bucks on the beater when it sells later.

Clutch, you're probably one of the hardest working guys on here. If anyone deserves a break, it's you. I only threw that out as a suggestion. Hate to see you roll the dice on more unknowns just because you feel like there's a time crunch. Do whatever fits your situation.

I agree on another spare vehicle and have been in his situation before. There is a reason I am getting my 88 to be a fun driver before I go head deep into 70S, plus I have my POS Dakota as well.

ETown swap meet has plenty of these for cheap!!

Here's the thing there is no $800 and I can always pull my bike out of the shed. What I need to do is make what's available work so I can hustle up some cash before I end up needing a divorce lawyer. I think all I need to buy for the swap is a set of header gaskets

Well before u can do that

u got to tear it apart and see what went wrong

Yes but I'm still in a bind for cash now and I'm willing to gamble on the burnt one I've seen quite a few burnt cars from copart give up good small blocks and it turns.

You wouldn't happen to have a part number for a mechanical fuel pump if you are running one? I have to pull this 461 from one of my k30's and swap it in a k5 2wd of mine, and would like to replace the annoying electrical fuel pump, and replace with mechanical one but cannot find one?!?! As it is a 74 chevelle engine bored out and what looks to be about an inch more than regular lengthed rod? As so to contact? The one in pic is just there to fill hole.
