I had a bad vacuum leek this morning the intake manifold is from a truck with vacuum power brakes and I put a temporary cap on it when I put the motor in. Well it fell off it's also starting to get the death wobble.. only when I hit a bump when I'm hard on the brakes and mostly when I'm way overloaded. Yup I was overloaded today and it did the job! Found a small scrapyard that was open Sunday and took the truck loaded with light iron and the little trailer loaded with #1 the truck weights 10500 empty by the way. I guess I was close guessing 11 or 12 K I also towed an SS454 pickup with it. It was hard on fuel today but I guess that's to be expected when a 545 works hard. Also seams to have a fuel delivery problem. Working hard pulling a hill it feels like it runs out of gas. I guess a good fuel system is down the road for it but forbnow I need to cousin trade on some of the safety issues and go get a job. LoL Tomorrow I'm going to fill the tank with my scrap money and try to get an idea how it is on fuel maybe I'll put a speedometer cable in so I have a even better idea

Oh, it probably gets pretty decent gallons per mile.

We should get an over/under for bragging rights on what every one thinks
It'll pull down.

Hopefully the scrap paid well and can last a little bit. And/or let's hope you can get lucky with some jobs lined up on a nice little circle route

I don't know about the betting thing I know the small block got about 10 or 12 my new motor used less fuel than that did in the same driving time this motor.. I think it's not so good on mpg. As fare as today's route goes I'm planning it now. Janet is off today so I'm probably just going to use her car for my interview running. I'm going to start up north and work my way back probably down 35 then out 88 from Asbury Park to Lakewood then this afternoon I'll head south to Tom's River out towards Sea Side. I'm shore I'll finde something today there's probably over 100 body shops in the area I just described. Still got that head shake problem on the truck so I'll try to address that today too. I gotta tell you I'm stressed about money but I feal better not going to that place this week. I really think I made the right decision leaving

On goes the job hunt I found some very promising leads but all are a hike for the crew cab. Had 4 interviews this morning a couple calls back and so far 2 more interviews tomorrow so far but I think there's going to be more. Anyway when I came home I was doing way to much thinking about money and it lit a fire under my *ss.
Idle hands are The devil's tool so I went out back and cleaned all the crap off the blasting rig. Tool a step back and realized... I stopped working on it because my truck wouldn't tow it, But it will now! So with that I hooked it up to the truck and moved it forward so I could rig up some taillights. It didn't take to long and I had some lights rigged up with vice grips then I set up some harbor freight magnetic ones on top of the compressor for redundancy. Cool thing is I can plug them bolth in at the same time my truck has a 4pin flat next to the big 7 pin that runs the trailer. After that I turned my attention to the rusty trailer Jack that I just fought with to move the trailer. I quickly realized I left my on blaster out at the building but I had some garbage plastic and used motor oil. Yup I went there with a funnel! It works good now! I contacted Dave out at the building and he's going to meet me here Thursday night and follow me out there so Saturday morning we can make some progress on it. I'm more excited about that than anything else.

So I went out today on this bitter cold rainy day and got myself a job. The conditions in the shop aren't the best but the money is good and the guy gave me a car to drive lol it's a rough square body suburban but it has a 6.5 turbo I thought all the squares had the 6.2? Anyway it runs and drives and it's free so it gives me a back up plan.

Sounds like it may be a good fit, at least for now.

You're correct on the 6.5, it must be a swap. Square burbs ended in 91, and the 6.5 was introduced in 92.
