And so it begins the weekend is here. All week it's been pretty good wether now it's friday I'm home from work and it's raining! I'm done waiting for one of my friends to stop by and give me a hand with the transfer case so I'm going to go for it alone tomorrow. My right arm is still not up to the task buy it doesn't hurt as much as it did. I bought the transmission jack Jared suggested and I'm hoping it's up to the task those 205 s are heavy and awkward. I'm dieing to do the parking brake so I can revisit the exaust when I was at my brother's house he gave me a set of 3 chamber Flowmasters to quiet it down and I like the Flowmaster sound I just don't know if I can get it all done on easter weekend

Last time I dealt with one of those, I jigsawed a couple pieces of plywood and made a cradle with some 2x4s and 3" deck screws. Tied the thing down with a small ratchet strap before backing out the last bolt and sliding it back. The thing hangs down at an angle and the driveline is also at an angle. 125 pounds solo with a bum wing might get you some flat fingers. Please be careful.

I just read through the whole thread, and man this project sounds so similar to what I've been doing with my Ford. I totally get what it's like working in the rain and snow and the cold out in the driveway. And I know what it's like doing it when you're sick with a cold and have a headache and you're sore and tired and all that. It's shitty work, but you've done an awesome job with it. On my truck I welded in all the floors and cab supports outside in the driveway in the rain and everything else. I'm pretty sure I still have some burn marks on my chest from molten metal dripping down on me.

You've done a hell of a job. I don't know how the weather is for your Jersey guys right now but it's still cold and dreary here, hopefully you're having better weather than us. Good luck on the transfer case, don't hurt yourself! Those NP205s are definitely awkward to handle, hopefully that jack will make it a little easier on you.

I did the transfer case in my truck one holiday with one of those jacks- you're good as long as you're not on gravel
I'm on concrete if it was a later aluminum case I wouldn't be so worried lol

Oh I will be careful I'm really not interested in a trip to the hospital the stability of the jack wit the off center weight of the case makes me a little nervous tho

Getting a late start today but I went to the gas station and WOW! My little adjustments last weekend made the biggest difference yet. I drove it all week and only ysed 4.25 gallons! It may not be so bad on fuel after all

I think you will like that jack Eric. I'm confident it's up to the task. A 4L70E with a full torque converter is not real light.
