Squealing When in Neutral

The arrowed areas look like wear marks, would like to see more of the red one since that seems like the most problematic.
If they are wear marks what has it been rubbing against?

Elcam, interesting observation and a good question. I'm not sure there is anything inside of the bell housing near the point on the fork where your red arrow is pointing. If it is a wear point, perhaps the loose retaining spring allowed the fork to touch the pressure plate? I don't remember seeing any rub marks on the pressure plate. Maybe I can stick a mirror in there tomorrow and see if I can see anything.

That's what I am thinking, somehow that arm is banging against the pressure plate making that ringing sound. When you depress the clutch it would push the arm away from the pressure plate making it stop.

You are correct if it was rubbing like that there should be corrosponding wear marks on the pressure plate housing.

Elcam, your thought is certainly a possibility. Although if there was a significant amount of wear I would think the spot on the fork would be a bit more noticeable. I'll take a look tomorrow and pass along what I find.

Elcam, I took a look at the pressure plate and the clutch fork. The pictures are attached. There is indications of light contact on the pressure plate ( see black stripes).

I got everything back together, adjusted the clutch according to the manual and no squeal while idling. Took it out for a test drive, no squeal but the engagement point was too high. Back in the shop, re-adjusted the clutch for lower engagement point. Went to take it out for another test drive and the battery was dead and the DS outer door handle wouldn't open the door (clip fell off?).

Will tackle the door next week; heading to FL to spend the weekend with my brother. Thanks again everyone.

Glad you got it worked out.

See the burrs on the end of the fingers of the pressure plate? That's why there are those marks on the throw out bearing.
