His Solution was welding the U-Joint to the Jeep shaft....It'll work...What I ended up doing was....Buying a Borgeson 450036 Steering Shaft, Telescopic $72.00...1" - 48 spline to 3/4" DD Steering Universal U-Joint $35 for the steering column side and a 13/16" 36 spline to 1" dd $35 for my 800 series steering box (not a 78 steering box so you'll need a different size most likely) so all together I was $145 into it. Thats what I needed up doing for mine.

Where did you get the 13/16" 36 spline to 1" dd for $35. I had to get one for my Astro shaft to hook up to my Delphi 600 box and for a Borgeson u joint it cost me close to $100

Yea The flaming river and Borgeson joints are expensive. The ones I bought were off Ebay and I think AFCO makes them. There forged 1045 steel and I believe the Borgeson is the same.

View attachment 55929 View attachment 55930 View attachment 55931 Did you solve your rag joint problem on your 1978 Gbody? If not, I can share my solution with you. I purchased a 48 spline X 3/4 DD U-Joint off of eBay. It was heavy duty stainless. Works flawlessly!

Did you have to weld this U joint onto the Jeep shaft or just use the screws to clamp it? I have a Jeep shaft for my ‘78 and finally found this post and answer. I’m looking at getting this off eBay. https://m.ebay.com/itm/1-48-Spline-...m=263517865789&_trksid=p2056116.c100935.m2460

Looks like a great solution to that dilemma.
