Steering wheel/column rattle

this is maybe something you already checked but are the bolts that hold the steering wheel trim together tight? maybe change steering wheels to see if that is it. GM wheels all interchange from the late 60's to the early 90's. I have a lumina wheel in one bu, a cavalier wheel in another & A camaro wheel in the third.

Yeah, I was thinking that I could take the center vynil trim piece off and re-attach it. I'm not sure what kind of bolts/screws hold the face of the wheel to the hard-plastic backing. I'd assume the are tork head type but as far as the size? I can't get a good view of the back of the wheel to tell.

Most of the ones I have dealt with have been 7mm bolts. I would think that the Malibu's are the same as the Buicks.

I've read somewhere on a Grand National/T-Type info site that a clip or something in the column wears out and causes similar symptoms, however, I haven't been able to find that article since.

Maybe this one.

I guess that must be it. I could swear it was something about a plastic clip, but probably not. I'll get the center link in and see if it goes away, and if not I'll have to tear into the column. Thanks.
