I am new here and have a really dumb question. I have a 1984 Buick Regal Limited and, as you can see in the picture, it has a gap in the top of the steering wheel. In my fuzzy memory from previous cars, there was a silver or chrome ring that covered that gap. Is that right or am I all wet? The last G-Body I had was a1987 Cutlass Salon over 25 years ago but it had the leather wrapped steering wheel. My brother had an 1982 or 1983 Grand Prix even longer ago but I don't remember much about it.

And, yes, that is actual mileage. 😀

A good replacement wheel is the leather wrapped GN / T-Type wheel. They are $150 - $300... but you get what you pay for.

They make steering wheel repair epoxy to specifically fix this but it takes a lot of work and talent, and the woodgrain/chrome will go away when you re-die it (unless you are good at painting woodgrain).

Pics of the regal?

You could epoxy the wheel and then get it wrapped by a local upholstery shop. Prob wouldn't be too expensive depending on the material used. Or just lurk on ebay or craigslist for a replacement wheel.
