Since I have my car apart, I have a lot of the parts in the attic. I went in the attic today to take an inventory of what all I had and I instantly felt the extreme heat. I have been storing my driver quality headlight bezels along with my excellent condition taillight bezels and grille in the attic since about January. I figured it would be a good place to store them since it was out of the way of everyone, dark, dry, and critter-free. Today when I felt the extreme heat in the attic I took the bezels out for fear the heat would make them brittle, as they are 27+ year old plastic. I am wondering, does the heat affect the parts that much or is it more the UV rays that make them brittle? I want to protect these parts from any further deterioration as I paid a good deal of money for them because they are in nice shape and I was planning on putting them back on my Regal once it's painted. Plus I don't wanna pay $200 for a pair of new headlight bezels.

I cant imagine heat in the attic would cause anymore damage than if they were in the car on a hot day.

That's what I figured. Although it's probably 100+ degrees F in my attic. I just wanted to make sure because they are one of the pricier parts that I'd rather not replace twice.

I disagree. Heat + humidity with no uv ray to push back and = the same principles as mold / mildew - the finish will SEPARATE from the plastic over time and you will be left with the equivalent of glasses frames with ribbons of foil peeling off of the bezels... thats just an opinion although I suspect it's a fact but I stick w my prediction. It happened to a blazer grille i left in a garage although it was a lower quality piece overall ... had to throw it away bc looked stupid

It's not humid, in fact it's very dry. Just hot.
