Re: Budget Cutlass Build Thread
Recently we were busting butt to get the car ready for the Hot Rod Power Tour in Charlotte. We got a custom drive shaft loop made, and also wired up the neutral safety switch.
A friend of ours also has an Innovative Motorsports air fuel guage that will log and record data while you are driving. You then can upload the data to a laptop to see how close your carb tuning is. Air fuels for this motor were pretty much spot on across the board. Other then a little burble that we think a new secondary spring Will clear up.
So once that was all done, it was time to head to Zmax for the 2014 Hot Rod Power Tour, I was planning to drag race the car. Once we got there I saw that they had a dyno and decided what the heck. Here's the dyno sheet. Pretty respectible 303 RWHP and 324 TQ. The dyno pull was made in second gear becuase 3rd would have been a long pull will a 2.56 gear.
I was expecting a little bit more, but hey it sounded downright nasty.
After that I made my first 3 passes ever. The times aren't even worth mentioning. I was trying to figure out how to get out of the hole, and every time you shifted into second it broke traction so I couldn't really get a full pass in. Oh well, live and learn. I'm looking foward to getting a posi rear and maybe some slicks. My reaction times were around .19x and my 60 foots improved each pass. I had a good time and was humbled by drag racing. I got the bug now. After a day of beating an driving 4 hours each way the Transmisson has decided it's had enough. 2-4 band is slipping pretty bad, so I'm accumulating the parts now.
