I haven't started doing my swaps yet,but being an ex Autozoner,I'm glad I know how to use thier system so I can find my own parts!!! I can't remember how many times I'd tell a coworker "He changed the engine(sub w/trans/diff/whatever). You have to look it up by what they got the assembly from!!!!" LOL you wouldn't believe how many of those customers
couldn't provide that info ( I dunno...some car my cousin had behind his fence!)!!! Usually wasn't a problem, but there were those times when it was a challenge!

I look up the part on the Autozone website and just tell him what part number I want.

That is the best way to do it don't trust them get the part # your self and take it with you just tell them the part # and there's no confusin.

I've had my Cutlass in car shows where it has been called a Buick, and a Monte Carlo.
One l'il old lady told me my car wasn't old enough to be in the car show.
A friend of mine referred to my Cutlass as a late model car.How is a car that is almost a quarter of a century old a late model??

I always have people trying to tell me that my monte is a newer one because it has the pointy grille. (SS facia) You can never convince them that they are wrong.

i went into parts store to get an a/c blower motor rerlay for my 71 chevy truck with part in hand just so the guy behind the counter could inform me that my truck didnt have that part. he couldnt find it in the books or anything. finally i told him to give me the book of relays and i found it myself, bought the part and left.

i had a simalar problem with a pep boys employee when finishing my 350 swap i needed to know the capacity of a 350 turbo for fluid it took like 40 mins for this retard i finnally had him search a 90 1500 chevy without od never been back since

This happened last saturday

Battery went out on the caballero. Went to the local auto-zoo to get another one. I set the battery on the counter thinking I was turning it in for a core discount. the guy asks for and types in my info(?) He then starts laughing at me "Lil Miss you can't use a waranty on a battery you didn't buy here". I proceded to tell him that I couldn't have a waranty anyways because the battery was in the car when I bought it and was getting ready to tell him why the battery was sitting there when I was interupted "you can't use a waranty on a battery someone else bought" I replied "uh..NO, I'm turning it in for a core discount like a starter or an alternator do you guys do that here or not! I'm late for an appointment and I'd really like to get another battery." he didn't say much after that.

being an #%*hole must be a requirement to work there :x :x :x

I use partsamerica.com it will give you many options for many brands for the same part and chances are one of the part numbers will be good somewhere. That site has saved me alot of time at the parts store. just record all the numbers and give it to the kid at the counter wherever it is you go and your set
