i heard they ware old crane cams.

Summit cams are good cams. They are not old crane cams, someone started that rumor and it has spread like wildfire. I ran summit's .442/.465 camshaft for about 5 years and plenty of miles. Has a nice lope and excellent torque/performance. If I remember right, the LSA was 112 and a 214/224 dur. @ .050. There is another member up here that I recommended this very cam to and he couldn't have been any happier with it, can't recall his name "frankencutlass" or something to that effect.

It's an edelbrock cam in disguise.

Summit is only a distributor of parts so if they stick their name on a product it makes me wonder who actually made it...personally I like to know what I'm buying

it dosent coast that much for a brand cam like mutha thumper or comp cams etc so you know you have a good brand cam that wont wear as fast as the summit would.

The summit cam is as reliable as all the others. I can speak first hand and for others.

Yes they are cheaper, and SScamino is right in the fact that they are produced by Edelbrock. I ran mine for 5 years straight with 100,000 miles, pushed the motor to 8000rpm with no issues from that camshaft, no wiped lobes, and hardly any wear at all. Hell you can talk to some of the guys over on Moparts who run summit cams in their 383's and 440's and turn low 12's in the quarter. A lot of guys on moparts endorce summit cams more than comp cams. Comp Cams quality has gone to sh*t lately as they started importing their cores from overseas. I talked to both techs at Lunati and Comp Cams. Comp admitted to having a lot of returned cams with wiped lobes resulting from break-in and occurring right at 1000 miles. Lunati on the other hand acquires their cores here in the U.S. and they were designed by Harold Brookshire who designed the XE line for Comp and left them to design the much better Voodoo cams for Lunati. You can contact him over in the TeamChevelle forum under the name "UDHarold" and he is very nice to discuss the proper cam you're looking for.

Lets leave the whole "It was probably made somewhere else" topic for another post and lets have those who have actually used summit cams put in their own input.

well the ones that are listed above are $54.95 so where was it made?....the question was are summit cams any good so I think it is relevant where they are made.....I would never put a $54 cam in my engine...

For 54.00 bucks i wouldnt consider that cam very reliable its probably made in china lol, or the the metal must be very soft chinese manfacturcting really sucks. And there dye's and castings are straight up garbage.

Coming from guys who have never ran a summit cam and are assuming its from china.... its up to you. I went with lunati cause they had the cam design I was looking for. You can find out yourself by calling summit and asking their techs your questions concerning their camshafts. They're very knowledgeable and don't bullshit, instead of trying to find out online between us giving you conflicting information.
