cant get the torque converter to lockup and the car is on the ecm but with no ccc carb. it use to work with my 307 and edelbrock 1406 carb . :?

The ECM won't work right without the stock style carb.

You can't be running on the computer without a CCC carb so I think you have to be mistaken that it used to lock with your Edelbrock carb. The first thing you really need to do is undo the wrong stuff that has been done to your engine. If you want to run on the computer then you need a CCC carb no if's, and's, or but's about it. If you don't want to run on the computer, than you can keep your non CCC carb but you need to get a non CCC distributor too and a lockup kit ( various ones available ) if you want to keep your lockup function.

+2 with what 81 regal and double v stated... the ecm looks for igniton timing AND throttle position before locking the convertor, so if it doesn't see both, it won't engage the solenoid...

p.s. double v, I actually gained some performance with an eddy carb, and MSD streetfire distributor on an 84 caprice with a stock 305.... granted, it wasn't enough to justify the extra work I'll have to do down the line for the lock-up upgrade.... :?(my buddy's car, I'm just the mechanic who puts the stuff he wants, no matter what I say...)

I think you need to be more specific on what exactly you have and what you're running right now because I for one aren't quite sure. Give more details. Clear sentences a big plus!

its a 350 olds that i have the non vacuum advance distributor to. Is there a way to you a toggle switch and aldl to make to make the torque converter lockup or not.

I think what i was trying to say is that with the 307 the lockup feature worked but as soon as i installed the 350 there is nothing but hi rpms down the highway .
to run 50mph is around 2000 rpms.

p.s. been using the same carb but i understand what you guys are saying

What year is your vehicle? Some early lock-up transmissions used a pressure switch inside the trans to tell it to lock-up. Check to make sure you have power going to plug on side of trans. It is self grounding inside.
