Brakes!?! Who needs that junk? I'm roughly 6 times the factory power level and the brakes stop just dandy!

Strangely enough it seems to need new pads roughly six times sooner than it did before....weird.

Narrow band O2s work fine on the other side of a shorty collector or a few inches downstream.

Got all the accessories pulled off the old motor this weekend. Weather was uncooperative. Picked up a lift from my buddy's house. Got a stand from HF and new motor on the stand. Progress made. Hopefully get the old motor out by next weekend.

Back in the day I could drive my elcamino into the driveway and have the engine and trans sitting on the garage floor in 45 minutes. Still too hot to touch. The LS turbo junk in the Malibu doesn't play nice like that.

According to the MVMA specifications, 1983 305s were backed by TH250Cs rather than TH350Cs, UNLESS it was a wagon or El Camino with optional 3.08 axle

The more I keep trying to gather pieces parts and make the old stuff fit the new components, I start leaning towards pulling the ECU and harness. Looking for Pro's and Con's to each, stock vs. non-ECU. I am looking for long term simplicity, initial cost, and quickest turn around to get the old girl back up and running. I am removing the Emissions garbage at a bare minimum. Mixing Vortec, with older block, with sensors, and CCC is just kind of a hot mess. I know its can be done but with little experience with the miss/match just debating. What will I gain by going non-ECU what will I lose by going non-ECU. Same for CCC.

Input welcome.
