And it is-This: (2007 model shown)
It is technically a motorcycle, not a scooter. It's the Honda Cub, and it has been in production since 1958. Basically, it is the biggest reason for the success of Honda as a company. Honda, much like BMW in it's early years, started out as a motorcycle manufacturer and only later started making quirky, odd little cars like the Z600 and N600 before finally having big time success with the original Civic and Accord during the two OPEC crisis of the 70's. I had read about it in a column in the London Telegraph written by James May of Top Gear fame, who had just ridden one across Vietnam for a special episode. In it, he described it as the most indestructible vehicle ever made, and from what I have read it may actually be true. Do I want one? Well... kinda. I don't only like fast cars, but I love simple, rugged pieces of design as well. I just came across an article on these things and that they are coming back to the US, and it makes me want to find an old one from when they were sold here as a spare vehicle. It would also come in handy if gas prices suddenly hit $5 a gallon while I am in school full time as they get over 150mpg (the 50's supposedly can exceed 200!).
