I may be young but I was bitten by the lawn tractor bug too. Thanks Grandpa for the Allis-Chalmers obsession! (cough cough and the Oldsmobile obsession)

A) the neighbors know when he’s on the mower and B) makes you wonder what the truck is like 🤣
Fun thread! Here’s my contribution to saving a junk tractor. Put in a 27hp twin, better trans and obviously added some visual flair. It doesn’t look as nice today as when I finished it 3+ years ago but it mows and blows.

Yes, it’s a K57 with I believe 28:1 reduction IIRC. It’s a little slower at top speed than stock, but it’s almost unstoppable when snow blowing. And it does sweet wheelies when pulling weight🙂What trans did you go with? I assume it had a K46 originally? I swapped several of those for K57s. Pretty much a direct swap and a much better transaxle.
They should've had K57s when they were new. The K46 is good for mowing a flat lot and that's about it.Yes, it’s a K57 with I believe 28:1 reduction IIRC. It’s a little slower at top speed than stock, but it’s almost unstoppable when snow blowing. And it does sweet wheelies when pulling weight🙂
Simplicity had some of the best lawn tractor names from the 'Landlord' to the 'Sovereign.' I think that's when your property was still your actual "castle." 😂😂The ‘Landlord’ - live it! No one would dare give a piece of equipment a name like that now!
Yeah the entire tractor was junk in factory form. The k46 was about dead and the motor was run without oil, which is why I was able to pick it up for free. Found the Tuff Torq trans for relatively cheap and had connections to a brand new B&S twin that failed inspection because of a bad head gasket. I think I spent more on the paint and graphics than everything else😆 It’s quite the workhorse now. They should've had K57s when they were new.
