BUILD THREAD “The Juggernaut”

Donovan has the 2.66 1-4 setup, but shorter .8 and .63 ODs.

Correct. It is essentially a close ratio 4 speed with 2 overdrive gears. The other choice was the wide ratio gears, and that just didn’t make sense to me for a performance application.

Have a look at this quick 3 1/2 minute video that compares the internals of a stock T56 to those of the Magnum. It’s quite an eye opener and easy to see why the Magnum will be a far superior transmission for my needs.
Excellent video. Question... what do they do to make the Magnum stand up to the insane numbers that we see online? 4 digit horsepower/torque etc?
Don't mean to hijack D so I can ask elsewhere if needed.

So now 6 speed swap for oldscool?

LoL.... I thought the same thing. It's not like he has to go searching for & picking it up + it would do fine w/the milder 'Oldsly' disguised sbc.

Nah, I have to keep Olds Cool as an automatic. It’s eventually going to be the missus’s car and she can’t drive standard to save her soul so it’s staying with the 2004R.

Not that it’s any slouch, it shifts clean and hard with the TransGo Stage II shift kit in it.
I’ll just have more fun rowing my own gears in The Juggernaut.

I’m not really sure Tony, probably a multitude of things. Better/stronger/larger components, surface treatments/hardening etc, and just generally bigger and stronger parts would be my guess. Supercharged111 might be able to offer some insight on that.
No hijack at all my friend.

That transmission would be sweet behind my lb7 duramax when I get it going sometime in the next 20 years 🤣, although I don't think I like the price tag on it though. The zf6 that came behind them is just way too big to put in a g body.

The gear faces are wider and the output is bigger. I forget what else.

I know for a fact that the input shaft is beefier too. LT and LS input shafts are only rated for 450 ft lbs, and even the Viper spec one is good to 550.
