The roadster shop G body chassis

I love G bodies, but really, who is going to spend 20K on an off-the-shelf chassis?

Is the day of 100K G body builds knocking on the door?

No one with any good sense... and it would still come up short compared to these (which cost less and can be driven immediately):

I bet we’re close. I started a cam swap 15 years ago that has morphed into a build that won’t be six figures when done, but will be closer than I care to admit.

I seriously considered a Schwartz chassis, but “starts at” pricing can easily double or triple when it’s complete, assembled and powder coated. My rolling chassis ended up costing about a third of a comparable aftermarket one.

I have friends who always have a nice newer car to drive, they make their payments and I would bet they are upside down everytime they trade their car in for a newer model. They have gone through about 5 cars since the time I have had my GP. If I add everything up I have put into my GP I bet I am under what they have put into cars they have never actually owned.

My DD has been payed off for years now, and my “payments” go into the resto.

Every now and then someone will ask how I can afford all my vehicles (it may or may not be a sickness for me). It’s easy when you keep them for at least 10+ years and take care of them.

Agreed. My kids' friends think we're "rich" because we have 7 cars. What they don't understand is that all our daily drivers were paid for with cash, and 3 of the 7 were purchased in the $4K range. 1 of the 7 has been on my possession for over 16 years, a second since 1991 and a third since 1978... and that one was FREE to begin with! Coincidentally, the freebie is no where near approaching a "six-figure" build, but it has the most money put into it. But when you scatter that figure over the course of 40+years, it's not ridiculous.

when i part ways with my Schwartz chassis I'll let you know what it's like.🤣
