As long as your block to frame ground is good, the aluminum intake should have no bearing. You could put a body to engine ground on if it makes you feel better. I think you could have overtightened the switch..

Maybe the position I have it in the back of intake? I let it get up to over 230 and still did not come on. My temp gauge is in front of intake driver side. The switch rear passengers side.

you should check the ground on the switch when the switch is installed in the intake with a mutimeter...

that Teflon tape/pipe dope won't compromise the grounding.the threads meet and make the connection.

There's a thought- does the rear port have coolant? Can you move it to the front?
