I have had a great time building this car, but I can now consider it almost "done". In the 4 years I've had it, it received all new engine, trans, rearend, driveshaft and paint. It runs 11.50's in the heat here in Las Vegas and if I go any faster I'll have to put a cage in it. Since I have a big block Vega as well, one car with a cage is enough. My thought was to drive the car more, but being a nice looking G-body I'm afraid to let it out of my sight. I'll take it to the track and occasionally to work, but that is it. Add to that the last 2 times I drove the car I got pulled over for stupid crap. That pretty much put me over the edge.

I'm thinking of getting something I could drive every day and not worry about leaving in a parking lot or outside my garage. Probably a 04-07 CTS-V. I was hoping the members of the forum could help me figure out what a decent 84 regal is worth - or change my mind about selling it. Any input always appreciated.

Here is the basic setup....

Engine:
383 sbc O-ringed block

Eagle rods
Engine Quest Heads. 200cc intake runners, 64 cc chambers

Holley 750 Double Pumper with Proform main body
Hooker headers, small primaries, 3" collectors
3" dual exhaust w/x-pipe, no cats, mandrel bent
MSD Pro-Billet HEI

Drivetrain:
700R4 Trans -built everything A+
Trans temp gauge
JW Custom 4000 Stall 10" w/full size lockup plate.
4.11 Gears
Mosier Axles
Grand National 8.5" 10 bolt posi
27x11.50x15 Hoosiers on Weld Pro Stars

Misc:
Car weighs 3390 lbs - A/C and heat removed
150 hp nitrous plate system
Dual nitrous bottles in aluminum bracket
Nitrous bottle heater with pressure switch
Accel Nitrous Mastermind (the new digital one)
Line lock
Large aluminum radiator with electric fans
Trans cooler with dedicated fan

Runs 11.50's here in the thin Vegas air. 10's are easily possible with a little more nitrous. Drives great and cruises around 2000 rpm on the freeway with the overdrive.

I can understand where you're coming from. I used to worry about my old Lincoln Mark VII. It was almost done and I used to park it a mile away where no one would hit it. I sold it in 2007 and I regret it. I put a lot of time and money into that car. Your car is beautiful, make sure you wont regret selling it.

Yeah, it's a Ford. But I have a soft spot for The Mark Series.

I wouldn't sell it bro put a alarm on it and drive it. but damn those ctsv are sick lol I would love one of those. But I would love your car to if I had the money. I dunno id get the ctsv just cause of the A/c lol.

fantastic automobile. If you can swing the cts-v, I hardly see why you would sell it though. Even with all the mods and Nevada rust free history the sale of that regal will barely cover the down payment and first 10 months on a cts-V

I'd suggest you sell the wheels and nos setup seperate from the car to get your moneys worth if you do. Everyone just ends up running their own rims anyway

maybe what you need is 'the right lawyer' get some of his cards to carry in the dash and put him on detainer so the harassment stops! Then again, I've yet to see a cts-v on the side of the road - although old cadillacs seem to draw more law enforcement harassment than even g-bodys

i say don't sell. the up keep of the cts-v would be cray after warrenty for parts plus labour would be a killer. the price of new parts for gs is almost nothing compared to cts-v's. and a cadillac getting stolen is not unheard of. i say put a high end alarm system in your regal.

plus when you see a gbody on the road you'll probably get excited like we all do then want to talk to the owner and after you realie you sold your gbody you'll begin to regret it, after that you'll regret it more ever time you see a gboyd wether it's drivign around, in a parking lot or rotting away in a field. i say keep the g and invest in anti theft and enjoy the piece of automotive history you've saved.

I like the CTS-V's because they are low key and don't stand out. The late model computer keys pretty much guarantee that the car can't be stolen(unless by tow truck). I think the on-star would even help recover it if it was stolen. I've had the urge to have a car that was manual transmission and cornered well too. I have a 2000 Mitsubishi Diamante as my daily now and the Caddy would get better fuel economy with twice the hp. There just isn't much of a down side to it aside from purchase price.

I do still love my Regal though, it just doesn't make sense to drive it much. I usually run race gas in it so I can use the nitrous as "needed". It costs a small fortune to drive at $13/gallon. If I had a larger garage I wouldn't think of selling it so much. Then I could just park it and forget about it. Now I end up moving it all the time whenever I have another project to work on in the garage.

Keep your Regal. While you invested a good amount of ca$h in it, you won't even get half of it back. A fair price on your car is between 6 and 7 grand, but the most you will realistically get is about 5 Gs if not less. Unless you find a Gbody fanatic who understands what you have done and appreciates it (and has money), there is NO WAY you'll win out by selling it, you are guaranteed to get the short end of the stick🙁
Save up and get a Caddy or whatever you want, but don't give away your nice Regal to do it, unless you get lucky, if you sell it you WILL get ripped off.
P.S. Instead of a Caddy CTS, how about a Mercedes CLK55 convert? Got one for ya...

don't know what it means coming from me seeing as i haven't sold a car.

but if i were in the same situation as you i would not sale it.

Okay I'll help you on this one....Keep the Regal....
Look at it this way...when you drive home from work tonight, count how many CTS's you see and then count how many
Regal's you see....Need I say more! 😀

x2 on that one  though i would LOVE to get me a CTS-V.. IMO get a covered storage spot for your Regal get the CTS-V cruise it for a while and when the hankering comes for the ol' Gbody pull out the Regal and terrorize the streets in a old school ride! Believe me i have thought of getting ride of my POS GP but the thought of it when it's done and built to where i want it i can guarantee there won't be another one on the streets like mine for at least a 50 mile radius! A CTS-V Caddy is actually a dream car of mine and so far the closest i have gotten to own one is the stinking oil pan for LS1 swap.... For my g body GP!
