Turn key full restorations will bring the money, the seller just has to wait for someone that is looking for that. The pretty El Camino posted earlier will bring that amount of jing from the right buyer. Probably someone that has a Porsche, or the like in their garage as well. And they'll use the El Camino as a daily/weekend driver that stands out.

Most of you guys seem to be like me, looking for a deal. I have to admit that I'm done with rust buckets from the salty Northeast. G-bodies are a great platform for go fast parts, have roomy engine bays to handle anything you want, ride well, and have a ton of aftermarket upgrades available for the budget minded. For the price of these cars in sound condition they're difficult to resist if budget is a concern IMHO.

The chameleon elco was honestly a pretty nice car, it would be a nice daily...but when he told me $9k i was caught off guard a bit. Not that he was asking too much, i personally wouldn't pay that much for it.

My boss (owner of 4 truck dealerships) is one the people that that car would appeal to. He has two Porsches, a small horse farm, and wants a summertime cruiser that will leave double tracks on the road when it hits 3rd gear. He sends me links on craigslist and asks my opinion once or twice a month. I look at them, in the 15K-25K range and have no valuable input because I know what $25K can do. Or I should say, I know what we do for 20% of that.

I sent him a link to 70 GS with a 455 that was a beast for 9K. His comment was about the color!!! Keep in mind that this guy owns a body shop that can make it any color he wants ????

Buyers are out there - there's a fish for every worm 🙂

Our wagon as a roller was $5000+ ($2750 for the car, and $2250 for shipping from the US to Canada); the Lemans sedan parts car was $1000; and the '86 MC was $800. All three were in very good condition (structurally) compared to typical use cars of similar vintage up here in the rust belt. I probably over-paid for the wagon, but it was an impulse buy; and should be very unique when complete.

As long as I keep doing things with the cars Natasha is happy I am occupied.

Oh, for a point of comparison I just spent $260 US on a set of custom pushrods for the LS1 in the wagon - value is where you see it.

Yeah, somebody will buy that elco, and unfortunately it will probably end up with 24's on it or something silly.

id go stout faced with 2800.00 and be glad to pay the 3 he would want😉....i say we call upon turbozach on this one😉 he has some of the nicest ive seen in the class...1980...one year only specific turbo...come on people where im from the documentation would suffice the amount wanting/asking?...
Beings my name got brought up, I will comment. The more they ask for the junker turbo cars the more mine is worth right? All kidding aside. There was a bout 15000 turbo Monte's built in 1980. There are some rare pieces on those cars that are hard to find. The thing is of those 15000 cars made there are a lot of them still around. Not very desirable and lack performance. The turbo engine was the highest horsepower engine available in 1980 for a Monte Carlo. With the bad gear set and turbo lag. A 305 would seem faster. Here in Iowa those cars would be worth around 500 bucks a piece. I gave 4000 for mine, witch I would say I paid top dollar. I brought the car because it was a rust free 3rd generation Monte with the interior and color I wanted. Very hard to find a g body in Iowa in that shape. I could care less about the turbo engine. Just something I can show off until I replace it with something better. There are about four turbo Monte's on this forum and a Cutlass turbo transplant. If those cars were 1981 Turbo Monte's they would be worth a lot more. Only 7000 made and very few still exist. As for the ElKY. What would it take to build that car? I bet more than 9k. Ok I am done now.

What kind of shape was your car in when you bought it?

Wich one I have three? My 79 was my highschool car I built and repainted in 97. Then tore it up. I brought a 80 parts car in 2001 for 50 bucks to fix my 79 up. Then let them sit for 15 years. I brought the 80 turbo two years ago to replace my 79, but can't let her go! So I have three. The Turbo was in mostly original condition with a 8th inch of dust on it when I bought it. Barn find I new about since 98. The guy started it every three months, but never drove it. There is a lot more to this story, but I don't want to mud up this thread.
