This may quite possibly be the worst thread in the history of GBF. Literally makes me never want to log in again. Can I request that it be locked?

FFS 3 of my imports are more domestic than half the domestic cars anymore. My talon, eclipse and lancer, all manufactured at mitsu in bloomington IL. Even though the talon and eclipse all had mopar parts in them. Thanks to the DSM venture.

No need to justify your imports to us, we all know that the CEO, CFO, president and thousands of engineers and management it takes to produce a car are not in this country. So there pay checks, taxes they pay, and money they spend is all done somewhere else, not here. Then when they sell a car they partly assembled here, the profit also leaves the country never to be seen again.

You do realize that mopar designed most of the DSM car's right? Infact the only thing done outside of the US was the ECU's for them and the wiring schematics. Plymouth laser, eagle talon, and mitubishi eclipse. All the same car from 88-93 i believe when plymouth dropped out and 95 I believe when eagle threw the towel in. All chassis were built in the US, and the mitsu ones specifically were assembled and built in IL minus their ECU, which was shipped in from Japan. So with that being said, I think your "facts" of the imports are slightly askew. Now take today's cars, and most of their products are manufactured in korea. (i have shipped in many parts via air freight to the plants they get assembled at) And for the CEO's here in the US, they use every loop hole they can to pay no taxes here anyway. Yet that is a whole different discussion and not getting into politics on a car site.

Sadly most "import" vehicles are manufactured here in the us anymore as it is far less costly than importing entire cars. As someone who works in the shipping industry I have seen it all come and go.

Exactly with all those people if he did anything he could get hit with assault charges. These days everyone wants to play the victim, doesn't matter if the guy keyed his car, destruction to property doesn't give someone the right to beat some one up in the law eyes. However I also find it hard to believe you didn't confront him for it.

I knocked the keys out of his hand before he made much of a mark and it came close to blows, he probably wanted to provoke a fight. I called the police but it was my word vs his, he claimed I did it myself and I was trying to frame him, no one else was willing to say anything (it's a NJ thing to not get involved in other people's fights). Cops didn't really do anything, just took notes, said he was sorry that he couldn't do anything, and left. At least it was old paint.

This thread....... :O ○=====3

So my neighbor thinks he can cook a steak better on his new gas grill then I can with my old weber charcoal grill. Mines has a modified wooden handle, aluminum foiled covered rack, and custom stainless hickory chip holder.

Wait, what? This thread sucks.

The only stock g body that was performance minded were the turbo buicks. All the rest were just badged smog Cars. It doesn't make since to compare a stock 30 year old non performance car vs really anything made the past ten years.

Apples to oranges people.

G bodies were designed to be mid level luxury cars first and foremost. Even GNs started out slow by today's standards, the carb turbos and the hot airs, Buick just kept jamming more and more stuff on their grocery getter V6 with poor flowing heads to make it powerful, but even the I/C turbo V6s still suffered from a lack of head bolts causing the famous head gasket problems, weak thrust bearings, poor oilling system, weak timing chains, and just about all Regals and GNs had the poorest handling setup of Gs with the lack of bracing and body mounts, and softer body monts too. Still they were the most powerful stock G body but that can go into some people's heads and is meaningless with non stock cars. For the day Monte Carlo SSs were not bad, while they were rated for 180 HP but they really made 200 HP in good tune and not hard to bump up to 300 HP with the stock heads. But since GNs and T-types cost more to buy, they should be faster stock, fast is all about how much you spend including the initial purchasing price. All stock G bodies have bad front suspension setups and flimsy frames.

But standards have creeped up like they always do, and now there are stock turbo 4 bangers that can smack GNs easily. Heck G bodies can only take about 400 HP stock before they get stress cracks and twisted LCA mounts without reinforcing. Suped up GNs are known to blow out the rear glass from body twisting from the motor. All G bodies are getting outdated like model Ts and cars are becoming outdated faster and faster, even LS1s are considered outdated in light of LS2s and LS3s by the hardcore LS crowd. Remember modern cars are smog cars too, they have to meet even more strict standards than our cars do in stock form. It's why I don't like the term "smog cars", every car from the 70s till now are smog cars. It was a slow crimb back through all those years to the power levels today, but modern cars are still very much smog cars, cats and all. The day will come when all the current performance cars will be regraded as slow outdated junk too by the next generation of gearheads, the price of progress is obsolescence. Having the best and most expensive version of a outdated 30 year old piece of junk isn't really a win.

Hank Hill says propane gas is best, so your neighbor does have a better grill that cooks better steaks than you.
