I know a few people who own GN's and I've never seen them being ignorant to others who own a G body. One did get upset with his gf when she thought my GP was GN but it was all tongue in cheek. I do all the mods and repairs on my GP except for the quadrajet. The guy who build my carbs is well known for his work and he has a GN and a GNX. It was a few months after I had him build my carb that I found out what he had in his two car garage. He was more interested in what I have done to my GP than he was in letting me know about the GN and GNX in his garage. I think if someone is intimidated by someone owing a GN or who has a stable filled with G bodies that he has built then that person with their apparent insecurity issues should deal with their issues instead of attacking someone who is proud of his accomplishments.

I have no badges on my GP so my friend said the same thing, it was not fair when his gf asked me if it was a GN....

I can't tell you how many times my Monte has been called a GN or "nice Buick", I'm guessing mostly because it is black and possibly because I have modified Lesabre fender vents on my car.
I always just laugh and then I politely correct them.

Snobbery and elitism runs deep in GN land.
:wtf: Slamming Turbo Buick owners? That's uncalled for. And I happen to enjoy my 20+ second (0-60 mph) Gutlass Supreme.

No personally offence to you intened, but in general the GN/ T-type crowd are not friendly to their G body brethren and take every chance to verbally belittle them and revel in their own snobbery. Granted not every GN and T-type owner is like that but too many are more than happy to perpetuate the negative stereotype of turbo Buick owners which Motorhead Mike demonstrates. Mike slamming G body owners was uncalled for and shows his elitists views over us non turbo G owners, my post was mainly to call him out for his BS. For the record I have been at car meets where GN owners try to start fights with me for installing a SBC into my Regal, just trying to act like bullies. A nice car doesn't make it's owner a decent person.

LOL... wut?

About the only thing I see here is your rabid turbo V6 envy and jealousy. Amazingly I have more non-turbo G-bodies than turbo'd - so I am still unclear on what your argument is based upon? Much less the insults.

But, hey you are a big boy(?) and you'll believe whatever it is that your little head wants to, so good luck...

Day 10 and still no race or time slips. Maybe by page 12 of this thread the cars will actually be 'almost' ready to run.

With all due respect to everyone here, I don't hold with the belief that turbo Buick owners are snobs. I have a Monte SS, and the local turbo Buick folks have been great with me, helping me out with some parts issues, and welcoming me to their get-togethers. I get no impression of any snobbery from them at all-just a bunch of really nice people.

Somehow we have gone from GBody vs Ricer to GN vs other G Bodies.
Maybe a three way race should be held, GN Buick in one corner, Ricer in another, and modified G Body in a third.
Four heads up passes, whoever makes the "meanest mile" has the fastest car, the timing slips will say so.
Then back to good natured banter and no more bitching please.

Roger.

I think it's more about one group or sub group saying unwarranted putdowns to other groups than racing or who is the fastest. I don't have any urge to walk up to someone and tell them their car is crap, even if I don't agree with their choices, but sadly some guys are eager to do just that. About 3 different times I have had GN guys walk up to me at car meets and insult my car and me to my face unprovoked, one of them even keyed my car in front of me with a smartass look on his face because he didn't like that I put an SBC in instead of a turbov6 in my n/a Regal. When I used to go to the turbo Buick forums (because there weren't n/a Regal forums), I mainly would get flip answers or putdowns, had to go to Cutlass, Monte Carlo, and F body sites to get real info and advice.

In the end smacktalk is for punks regardless if their car is fast or not.

It sucks that you have encountered this kind of "bullying" at car shows because of your choice in engines for your Buick.
I personally have never dealt with anything like this at a car show and I have met a lot of GN owners and none have had that cocky "I'm better than you attitude" and we usually end trying to park near each other and it was the same when I brought my 400 SBC powered Regal back then.
Now, my Monte does not have a show quality paint job but if I saw someone intentionally key my car I can't imagine they would be walking away without my help.
