This might have been a bad idea, BUT

I'm mainly buying this car to save it and it's affordable. I love a challenge. I'm not the guy that would go buy a nice one for more money. I'd rather buy junk and fix it up. Buying parts and pieces spanned out over a few years is easier for me.

you are right i was thinking of a different model. grab it if you can since only about 1000 where made with turbos

you should get a bunch of Monte Carlos and....

 so what happened with that?

That's a special car!! Cudos to you for saving it!! A couple questions. Why 4.3 blow through instead of a GN setup? The 4.3 will force a different trans bellhousing pattern, but I suppose that's not a real draw back. I have a draw through turbo and spread bore carb base but the flange is just slightly bigger on the turbo so I'm thinking it's from a 301 Pontiac. Those turbos are a strange cat. I rigged mine up on one bank of a 283 and it wouldn't spool. Something about having the fuel in the compressor housing makes them use different bushings. I had it checked out by a turbo shop and he gave it a clean bill of health. Sorry for the ramble... Awesome car.

Tail lights do not swap with a 442 correct? I know where this one is.

The stock GN turbo is a bit small for a 4.3. Probably be better and cheaper to buy an ebay or even small borg warner s300 series.

Id be interested in a stock GN turbo if I can hunt down a set of tail lights 🙂

On the street, erring toward smaller is better. A stock GN Turbo will flow enough air to make enough HP to run 12.0s in a 3600lb car. Motor cubes shouldn't really factor much into the equation. More Cubes will actually mean lower boost for the same HP, so lower octane gas is needed for a bigger motor.

I think he may need those tail lights if you have access to them.

I am right at $300 in parts from the salvage from yesterday and today. I got everything that would have been melted or messed up. I passed on both inner fenders cause they're broken. I got the entire engine bay area wire harness. Nothing was cut and all connectors intact. The complete hvac box with harness, core support, a very nice RH fender, wiper motor, speedo cable with grommet, accelerator cable, hood release cable with grommet, very nice V6 fan shroud with no cracks or scuffs, engine fan, and interior=behind dash venting ductwork also no broken tabs. So everything that plugs in on front of firewall and behind firewall is matching. When I got the dash yesterday, I left the entire harness with fuse panel attached behind the dash so it was pretty heavy. I know where at least 10 buick 4 door sedans are to check for inner fenders. I'm expecting most to be broken but maybe get lucky. I also will buy a very nice LH fender. I have an extra floor shift tilt column here so everything that got burned should be covered. The guy stripped a 78-80 Regal Turbo for all the top of the engine stuff for the car years ago and the stuffs in the trunk. He has heads, valve covers, intake, carb, turbo, and piping. If that block is saveable, I may rebuild it. The car is rare and worth at least trying to build. I have more small parts I grabbed in a box not in pic including every bolt, nut, and screw.

I'm just grabbing the car and the parts to fix before they are gone forever. That 4 door is at a U pull yard, it will probably be smashed in a month. The parts are cheap at those places and I was getting them before someone else did. I'm not going to mess with it for about a year. Still doing the Monte build as planned
