That gotta be the problemYea, cross shaft is the same for both sides. Mixing them would push the tires back towards the firewall.
I haveWhat size tire/wheel? A 27" tire on a 3.5" BS wheel can hit the plastic turning. 26" tires shouldn't have a problem until you go to 8" wide wheels. It would be hard not to hit the plastic on most G-bodies with a 15X8 if they are aligned for max caster.

A 225/70R15 is 27.4" dia. That may be the issue. I would go with a 215/65 up front if your on a budget for the time being.
