Torque! Rocket power vs LS power

I gauge a lot of my experiences and likes on stock vehicles, I guess that is wrong? We also seriously considered a Coyote 5L 6 spd GT Mustang is that allowed? Sorry they are nice looking, fast cars, my apologies. My Wife is dyed in the wool GM, she would harass me endlessly if I bought a Ford truck. Dodge is the only allowable domestic option for trucks. Neither of us like Camaro's styling, I know that also isn't allowed😳.

Thank you👍.

You know I came close to getting many rides in a LS powered car. My BIL had a 95 Z28, too bad it wasn't 3 years newer, it might have made me get a LS and put them everywhere. It had the 5.7 LT1 and 4L60E. It was fun and fast, but.... He went in with a complaint of a tick shortly after buying it. The tech let it slip that the oil pump pick up fell off when he complained of the engine tick. The tech said it was fairly common. He was pissed, he made them do a valve adjustment before the used car 30 day warranty expired. Oh and the 4L60E sh*t the bed, it needed a rebuild, he got a bunch of upgrades, not cheap but lasted till he traded it in. My BIL is Journeyman Mechanic who teaches it at Crocus Plains in Brandon, Manitoba, FYI.

Didn't you just call the LS guys "sheep" a couple of pages back?

Yes, anyone who puts the same powerplant that everyone under the sun has put in their car has a fondness for wool🤢. My Wife likes nice looking, good handling cars that are fast enough to be fun. We almost bought a G8 instead of our 2010 Challenger, I was looking at LS powered ones. My Wife didn't really want a 4 door, she would be the one mostly driving it. Oh and where do you think the dyed in the wool expression came from? I am cut from the Small Block Oldsmobile cloth, if you are wondering, Mahle and Molnar synthetic based😘.

Just got a chuckle out of the irony of your criticizing members that like what you don't like......then a few posts later playing the victim (even though no one is criticizing your preference for Olds engines or V6 Challengers)

Actually that is exactly what is being done, are we not reading the same thread?

Well, after this thread, I sent an email to the supplier (PSI Conversion) and asked what kind of tune they could give me over the stock LM7/4L60e Silverado tune... To be honest, I've been underwhelmed, but still love the improvements from the swap.

Reply from the supplier was silly: "Your tune is setup for a factory stock engine." Any modifications require a custom tune."

Yeah. That's what I'm asking for. Obviously not a salesman. My response was something on the order of, "What do you have on the shelf?"

Edit: PSI Conversion not interested in providing anything but stock tune per following correspondence. "It's [custom tune] best to be done on a dyno."

Edit2: seems stock truck tune locks-out "Power Enrichment" until 60-seconds at 90% throttle - keeping air/fuel=14.7 AT ALL TIMES. Might look into getting HP Tuner just to drop the delay to 0-seconds and set the threshold at 70% throttle....

Yeah, I was attacked for exactly those reasons in this thread🙄. You guys just really seem angry I haven't been impressed by the LS. Mike picked at me in thread and I responded back with my experience of STOCK, truck LS engines and why I really don't want one in anything. This thread was created in an angry response to my response🤷‍♂️. It is the factory ratings, very inflated feeling that make me a harsh critic. Same with the 4L60E, they fail often and people more intelligent and more experienced won't bother with them because of their issues. One of the ones I cooked was towing, next to nothing in the lacking low end torque 5.3 LS work truck. The Olds engines I run were rated at 160 hp from the factory, it can only go up from there. You do realize why most of my posts lately have been about my Challenger? Because I drove it nearly Everyday, 4 hours a day to almost see my Wife die. It is a great car, has what a lot modern vehicles lack, style. What motor am I building? Of course, it is an Olds 350. I have finally run out of cheap, good running motors. How many good running original LS will there be when they turn 45? You guys let this go, I will too. It has been a great distraction from real life FYI. And no everything I do is far from perfect. I seem to cling to the not so strong from the factory 2004R, it just has nearly perfect ratios and size. No cutting and hacking and expensive drive shaft mods needed for a 700R4/4L60E or 4L80E need. I just need to pony up $1000 US, spend a lot of time to make an honest performance transmission out of one. Maybe I have been annoying lately, I am a little off right now.
