Torque Wrench Choice

I found the snap on torque O meter to be my favorite
I use the inch lb K-D beam type for setting rotational drag on my pinion bearings
All of them purchased in the early 90s man I’m getting old even my tools are classics

Ive been reading up on these things for hours between last night and today. Lots of good reviews on the Husky and Craftsman wrenches from people but since the reviews are somewhat old all the models have been discontinued and manufacturers changed. COO changed too. Lots of imports. Williams, Utica and Armstrong were all good until the companies closed up. SMH
So not one to rush, I'll be looking around for a bit. LOL I borrowed my friends Craftsman this morning and got everything done that I needed to do. One thing I noticed right away, his 9 or 10 year old Craftsman was much longer than the Utica. A bit of a PIA trying to use it under the car.
Thanks for all the replies guys !

I have an old Sears beam type I use most of the time. I have a couple of HF click types that I only use where I can view the gauge on a beam type torque wench.

I had a beam style back when I was a kid. Never really cared for it but I know some guys love them. For my the click type is great. Simple and no battery. I called a place in VA that repairs torque wrenches and the woman said they could only calibrate my old Utica. If it was broken (it is) they probably wouldnt have the parts. I asked her what brands seemed to hold up and she said Snap on and Gearwrench. I asked her about some of the other industrial brands like Williams and Armstrong and she said they were very good but since theyre no longer made if something fails I'l be in the same situation Im in now.
Looks like I might buy a Gearwrench unless someone tells me they really suck. LOL

Just see where it is made. If Taiwan it should be ok

Not sure if I would trust it at all

Question #4: What is the USA made torque wrenches?
Answer:
Tekton torque wrench, SK tools, craftsman torque wrench are the USA made torque wrenches brands.

I havent seen that one John but theres a bunch of reviews out there. Lots of videos on youtube too. Another site is garage journal. Loads of reviews. The downside is a lot of the reviews are a few years old. Some of the companies folded. Some are no longer making their products here in the states. Some guys say theirs are great but theyre 5 years old and no longer made. My buddy has a nice Craftsman. Hes had it for 15 years. Real nice quality compared to the current ones. Ive heard the older Husky ones are good too.
That artical says Kobalt makes a decent one. I went on the Lowes website and looked at the customer reviews. Some not so good.
Im kinda bummed that I cant get mine repaired. UGH
