Meant to come back and finish my thought. Class 2 gets you up to 3500 lbs ( 10% tongue is 350# ). It was more than enough back in the day for my parents pop-up trailer, bikes , beer and lumber on dads old Bonneville. But then again he grew up with the trailer hitches they would literally clamp on to the rear bumper of what ever rig you happened to be driving. Zero F-s given back then 🙂

You mentioned your dad's Bonneville. Don't forget the old Bonneville's were like tanks and were a much stronger car than our era G-bodies. That's assuming your dad's car was an earlier type Bonneville.
yup, Dad had an 85 sea foam green in and out Bonneville. It replaced his 83 Delta 88 ( my first car ) after the 307 decided it didn't like its timing chain any more 🙂 He towed the pop-up and even flat towed a couple cars with it.
Bad thing about that hitch is that it won't fit with MCSS straight back exhausts as it goes exactly where the factory exhaust hangers go. A GN style side exhaust should clear it. Oh, the rear mounting bolt for the bumper mount shocks are almost always frozen and snap off. So be ready to pull the rear bumper, then the mounting shocks to drill out the broken bolts.
I had to do that with mine, When I had the shock out I drilled and tapped the nut on the L bracket at the back of the shock for a 7/16" bolt and used 3/8" bolts on the flange.
Thanks man...but I've already had the bumper and shocks apart and reinstalled, so snapped bolts are not an issue. You've brought out some good points, though.
My exhaust comes out on the sides, so again, clearance is no concern to me.

Start with the hitch in place, the route the pipes. I used MCSS tailpipes on my wagon back in the day.
