Correct me if i am wrong...but the g body steering box you have is the better of the g body boxes??? I have seen that the ones that have the 4 bolts holding on the cap are more desirable.

To be honest I have no clue. .this is the original one. Is like to know too

I might reach out and ask then, i have the same one on my 87 cutlass....i have heard several times its called the "800" series which has a higher turn ratio. I know the late monte ss cars had em.

Here's a better shot.

Yeah thats what mine looks like too. If i find a good answer i will let you know.

Mines am 83 did they keep the same set up all those years? Or was my car really will optioned? If this was an option.

Gentlemen, the 800 series boxes came in various cars. They are the better/ stronger unit between the 605 and 800 series boxes. However, not all 800 series boxes are quick ratio boxes. Cars generally equipped with F41 suspension...Buick GN T-Type cars, Monte Carlo SS, Olds 442, H/O, IROC, Z28, and GTA F-body cars all were equipped with the closer ratio box. Standard Cutlass', Monte Carlo , Malibus, El Caminos, and Pontiacs were probably equipped with the standard ratio box unless ordered with the F41 suspension package.
