trying to ship dash

Chances are he went to "the UPS Store" and they priced packaging and shipping. Also, it'll be double oversize and possibly subject to dim weight (where price is based on size of package and not on weight).

Been a long time since I shipped anything large for this very reason, freight costs have really escalated in the last 10 years or so.
Yes charges are high. I use to pack and ship boxes and freight charges are about that price.

Yes I made sure I asked 4 times at the 2 post offices I called. Gave them dims and close to weight.

Just looked at pic, why would you buy that? Looks like a typical Malibu / Camino / Monte "cracked 6 ways to Sunday" dash.

IMO, put that $100 towards a full cover.
Only has 2 cracks. No pick and pull near here with any g bodies. Compared to my dash it looks spectacular 20170401_161410.jpeg

Near myrtle beach.

Oh, you're much closer to Charlotte than you are me. Hopefully your guy can find a box for it, I know what a pain it is to try to find a box to ship large parts, and then how outrageously expensive they are once you do find them. That's why I won't even attempt to ship large parts

These cars never hit the yard here, have to watch for partouts, and if you're lucky know people that deal in a lot of parts cars.

I have a friend that has a fair amount of G body stuff, nothing spectacular or rare, but has some good stuff from time to time. Never pays much for what he buys, describes himself as a "bottom feeder" at auctions. Is now to the point that people bring him their lost causes, and he parts what is worth selling.

I'd be tempted to repair the major damage to the existing dash and use the cover for it. I bought a nice used dash once, only to have it turn into a cracked mess inside a year. Just hate to see money spent on a part that is probably only going to get worse relatively soon.

I think I will go that way, the full cover, and just try to get everything strait and clean before putting it on dash. I see the covers are not much more expensive.

There is a new dash available from OPG. May not be in your budget. Check with L.A.X-Rated or Timo22. They are great on parts and are here in the states.

That dash can be shipped. I've built boxes to ship headers (cast iron long), to ship fenders, to ship entire vintage car A/C systems, etc. The seller will need to put a half day or so of work to find good cardboard material and build a good box so the dash will survive shipping.

I just bought a new dash top for my brother's 02 Sierra. I shipped it from Richmond, Virginia here to Houston. The box was a joke. It was a miricle it survived UPS. I paid $160 shipping. I got lucky.
