Tubular front upper control arms, who is running what?

Since my surgery I swear my wife aims for them. Just had my shoulder repaired after a bad accident. And 81 is the worst rd ever. If they stop bringing outsiders in to fix them and have company's from pa do them using people who know how to fix them right. Hot cold hot cold does wonders on a road lol.

HAHA, I feel the same with my wife. I live in Bucks county, near Philly. I have family in Shippensburg, and I am making the trip out that way once a month. Between the turnpike and 81, the roads suck. sh*t, you can't even see the lines at night, they are so faded and use non reflective paint.

I just looked at the g-body arms again, the lowers they are including in the kit are UMI lowers. The more I look at them, the more I like the UMI arms. One of the things that are drawing my towards them, is they sell replacement bushings for the arms. They also are good for tall ball joints, so running the 1/2" upper and lowers like I am now, I would end up with better stuff. I might see what kind of show sale price they have at the GM nationals.
Anyone interested in red stock uppers and lowers, with new bushings and 1/2" taller upper/lower ball joints and offset crossshafts? lol

You won't regret it Jim, those A arms are very well built.

I am thinking that. I emailed Ramey and he said they can load the lower arms with 1/2" taller ball joints for me too.

That's who I dealt with when I called in my order was Ramey. Those guys will set you up, good people.

The good news it that you can transfer those ball joints. I have an extra set of conventional lower ball joints new if you want to remarket your control arms.

Well, I already pressed in the ball joints on my lower arms as you know, I may have some stock height, not sure (ill hit you up if not). I am just afraid of damaging them and the boots on removal. The uppers are a bolt in affair as we all know, so they are easy. I do have a press, I just don't want to jack them up. That is why I was thinking of just getting them with the arms. I am using the precision (?) balls joints. I'd have to look through my thread since my memory sucks.

Umi normally does 10-15 %off at the gm's. I bought my uppers with the ball joints from them at the 2013 gm nationals. I'll get the rear shock brace there to take advantage of the deals.

I may take some cash there to get them. Even if I have to get them shipped home (no biggie). The shock brace is a stout piece, you will be happy with the quality. They had one on display. My frame is notched and I have a brace welded in in that area so I won't need one.

The boots should be removable by gently prying up around the the lip. They are a slight stretch fit around the body. Using a press kit from the parts store, if they have not rusted, with luck you should be able to just pop them out.

Yeah man, I should be able to get them out no issues, you are right.

they have to have a bump stop, and no solid or aluminum bushings. Poly is OK, rubber is OK, delrin I don't know about. .

Why is this a requirement? Many guys run the Speedway (UB machine) uppers on daily drivers. Lightweight and strong with provisions for the tall ball joint.
