The bumpstop, well, factory vehicles have them, and I run a shorter then stock bilstien shock, without the bump stop over crazy bumps and dips, the suspension can and has hit the factory bumpstops. Without bumpstops I'll have had shocks get messed up from getting yanked to full extension. So, I'd rather not take any chances with the expensive bilstiens. Why is this a requirement? Many guys run the Speedway (UB machine) uppers on daily drivers. Lightweight and strong with provisions for the tall ball joint.
The solid bushings aren't something I want to run on a 300 mile per week vehicle. I can't see them lasting 40,000 miles, even with weekly greasing.
See, the thing is, a lot of people "daily" drivers aren't 300-500 mile per week, 2000 mile per month cars. Don't get me wrong, a lot of guys run these everyday like me. I won't drive this in the snow (big *ss tires/salt), but it will be my everyday driver 9 months out of the year. I built it to drive, so longevity in parts is key.
I don't have first hand experience with all these arms, so I am trying to pick carefully. UMI sells replacement bushings for their arms, so repairs and longevity in my vehicle are selling points for me from their products. Ball joints are ball joints no matter what arm they are in.
