the name of the grease is dielectric...and were did you get the specs to gap your plugs at .80...that's huge and could be the cause of your problem

Thats what Autozone told me to gap them too. :evil: maybe it was 0.080 What would be the correct gap?
 
what's the size of your engine..if it's a 3.8 I think the correct gap is .63 and if it's a 305 the gap is .45

I have the 4.1 v6.
 
from what I read online for a 252 it's .60....you were overloading the system with a gap of .20 over the recommended setting and with a gap like that the spark wasn't strong enough to burn the fuel so that's why it ran like crap

Thanks Im going to change the plugs and wires tonight if not this weekend. I will let you know how it turns out.. Thanks again for the help, its greatly appreciated.
 
unless you know who your talking to at a parts store DO NOT listen to them but if you do double check before using their suggestions

ok WILL DO 🙂 now I'm doubting the plugs they gave me lol They gave me AC Delco Rapid Fire spark plugs. Will this work fine? What do you suggest?
 
I think the reason they gave you the rapid fire plugs was they are more expensive and harder to sell so get them off the shelf...I have always used the cheap ac delco plugs and never have had any issues with them
