UAWs and missed opportunities

I have always thought of rims as a balancing act, they have to be styled and sized right to compliment the car without being so overpowering that all people see are the "look at me" rims.
And I agree 14" rims look undersized on a Gbody even bone stock ones.

The brake system on the G body was not designed to stop the rotating mass of those huge heavy wheels

And the guys that drive the big wheeled cars know this all to well. Most of the calls I had on my B-body 12" brakes for sale on Craigslist came from guys running big wheels on their G-bodies.

I wouldn't trust the B body brake to stop those wheels with the extra weight plus the extra leverage

the 12" B-body brakes have the most stopping power of the factory brakes, so its better than nothing.

The guys running 11 second and faster 1/4's with 26 in wheels... I don't know how they get those cars stopped.

My dad had 17x8 centerline scorpions on his GP back in the 1990s, I think they fit the car well. 17" is the largest I'd go imo. Tires were 275/40/17 BFG Comp TA ZR tires. They were replaced by the G Force tires. They were one of the first runs of the wheels so there was no choice for offset.

I personally don't care much for the huge wheels unless they "fit" the build style, and the owner upgrades the brakes. I see it all the time here in Louisville....but it burns me to see them huge wheels with stock brakes! That's just asking for disaster!

In stock form, the factory rallye's fit the look of our cars with the raised white letter tires. My cutlass looked great with black paint, black and chrome olds rallye's and BFG's....View attachment 74258

When I had the Centerline's it looked killer...

However, once the paint is done the 14's will be retired with a 17" version of what I think will look right at home....View attachment 74259

Obviously, opinions and build styles are like a-holes, we all have em and whatever suits ones fancy then so be it! Rant over lol!
That's a nice looking wheel.

sigh. STOP LIKING THINGS I DON'T LIKE. I'm in a mood to lock this thread. Did we really need to bring this up? I mean, there's a whole crowd of people I'd love to have as members but every time somebody posts something bigger than a 17" wheel its ZOMG BIG WHEELS SUX0RS and everything else.

I invite a lot of people to the page especially to get good advice but the moment you mention anything over 17s they are considered circus wheels etc or how they want fit. a lot of things I just google before I ask bc the purist will eat you alive on here sometimes lol

My car has 14s. It's stupid and lame. People are always coming up to me at the gas station to tell me they hate it and how I did everything wrong. Because of the 14s.

Since I can't afford cool 15s, I'm probably going to just drive it into the river so I don't have to continue living with the shame.
